Job Responsibilities:
Purpose: To provide professional nursing experience and to make sure that the physical and mental health needs of the clients (parenting youth and their child/children) are met as well  support needs of Residential Campus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Ensure annual physical assessment and dental assessments are up to date.
Ensure the provision of nursing assessments and interventions to observe, monitor and care for the physical, nutritional, behavioral health and related psychosocial issues, problems or crises manifested in the course of the client’s treatment.
Ensure EPSDT services are current and up to date.
Ensure that all postpartum examinations if not provided prior to admission.
Ensure that all postnatal examinations and care is provided post-delivery.
Assess and monitor the client’s response to medication(s) to determine the need to continue medication and/or to determine the need to refer the youth for a medication review.
Assess and monitor a client’s medical and other health issues that are either directly related to the pregnancy, mental health, substance related disorder or to the treatment of the condition (e.g. diabetes, cardiac and/or blood pressure issues, substance withdrawal symptoms, weight gain and fluid retention, seizures, etc.)
Consult with and educate the client’s family/caregiver about medical, nutritional and other health issues related to the individual’s mental health or substance related issues.
Educates the client and family/responsible caregiver(s) on medications and potential medication side effects.
Consult with the client and family/caregiver(s) about the various aspects of informed consent (when prescribing occurs/APRN).
Collaborate with psychiatrist(s) regarding orders and medication prescriptions, including assistance with the monthly prescription for scheduled II controlled medications.  
Identifies health related educational needs of clients.  Provides informal and/or structured instruction on health related issues.
Support the campus as needed

Job Qualifications:
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.  Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.
Must have current Georgia license to practice as a registered professional nurse.
At least two years nursing experience, including experience serving pediatric clients in an ambulatory setting preferred.
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.  This includes client’s needs assessment and meeting quality standards for services.
Demonstrated knowledge, competence, leadership ability, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in use of computer.
High level of energy required for working with people.
Necessary stamina and temperament to work with clients ages 0-21 years of age who are experiencing crisis and/or emotional and/or behavior disorders.
Ability to interface and build relationships with clients and a variety of service providers and collaterals.
Posses the skill of active listening – giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and ask appropriate questions.
Ability to meet and handle the public with tact and poise.
Maintain high level of confidentiality.
Must be able to multi task in a fast paced work environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to use collaborative documentation.
Ability to consider relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate decision.

Essential Physical Requirements:

Duties are performed in a variety of environments ranging from highly stressful and potentially aggressive (physical interventions, escorts, etc.)  to casual and leisurely, in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Duties require the ability to manipulate small equipment and containers (i.e. syringes, vials, and medication packages) to administer medication.
Duties require the visual ability to draw up the correct quantity of medication into a syringe.
Necessary stamina and temperament to work with clients ages 0-21 years of age who are experiencing crisis and/or emotional and/or behavior disorders.
Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
Ability to lift 15 pounds.
Ability to carry 15 pounds.
Duties may include bending, stooping or kneeling for short durations of time.
Duties may occasionally include overhead work, reaching, pulling and pushing items.
