Job Responsibilities:
Purpose: The HSP provides child welfare administrative oversight and coordination of services to children and their families in care. Specifically, the HSP is responsible for supervising and ensuring that the educational, medical, emotion and social needs of each youth in care are met. In addition, they are responsible for providing and/or coordinating all case management, ancillary and social services for each youth. The HSP maintains all documentation required in case files and electronically manages contractors’ data system on assigned youth. HSP is required to generate reports of daily, weekly and monthly progress relevant to case management and support services.perform responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Completes case management responsibilities for assigned residents in accordance with contract and regulatory requirements as outlined in the Human Services Professional (HSP) manual.
• Completes required documentation per contract and regulatory requirement in applicable databases.
• Adheres to mandated reporter responsibilities.
• Responsible for completing all required reporting and follow up documentation regarding significant/critical events with in applicable time frames.
• Coordinates, and participate in, internal investigations when significant events/incidents occur.
• Participates in meetings as outlined in the HSP manual and/or as required.
• Responsible for contributing to performance quality improvement measures as outlined in the HSP manual and the Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) plan, for example utilization reviews, etc.
• Provides effective supervision to Program Manager to ensure the following:
a) Cottage milieu is established and maintained based on Agency policies and procedures.
b) Assigned duties are performed adequately and protects the health, safety and well-being of the residents care
c) Constructive supervision is provided to direct care staff on a monthly basis.
d) Direct care staff receive timely performance evaluations
• Approves staffing schedules to ensure sufficient staff to resident ratio based on cottage needs and regulatory guidelines.
• Approves expenditures for the cottage based on Agency policy and procedures.
• Contributes to the prevention and management of challenging behaviors by implementing the Agency’s crisis management program and utilizing tools such as Risk Assessment, Functional Analysis of Behavior and Red Flag Meetings with Program Manager and direct care staff.
• Ensures accurate medication administration, documentation and safe storage of medication in accordance with guidelines established by the State of Georgia Regulatory agency and Methodist Home policy and procedures.
• Collaborates with Program Manager, and participate in, the selection, hiring, training and discharge of cottage staff.
• Maintains open communication with cottage staff to adequately communicate resident goals, safety plans, etc.
• Identify and monitor the children’s and families’ progress relative to the needs, goals, and objectives identified in the assessments and service plans and discuss any problems being encountered by or with the children in care.
• Effectively communicates written information to the right people in such a way as to establish an accurate record of each child’s placement and maintain accurate records needed by the agency
• Communicate with team prior to admission to the campus specifics regarding the new resident including risk assessment.
• Completes RBWO Foundations Training within four (4) months of hire date.
• Obtain and maintain certification in First Aid/CPR within 30 days of employment and every two years thereafter.
• Obtain certification in the Agency approved crisis intervention training within 90 days of employment and complete recertification annually.
• Responsible for ensuring all residents receive Sanctuary4kids curriculum on an ongoing basis.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Maintains on call social worker responsibilities as directed.
• Utilizes appropriate Sanctuary tools when interacting with colleagues and residents.
• Adheres to the seven commitments of Sanctuary when carrying out work responsibilities.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the sanctuary commitments.

• Practices social responsibility by insuring that they are at their work area when scheduled and remain for duration of required hours in order to perform responsibilities.

• Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by reporting risks and hazards to their supervisor, V.P. Facilities, or V.P. Human Resources.
• Take initiative to implement good practice and meet licensing and accreditation standards.
• Completes assignments in a timely and accurate manner.
• Upholds the mission and values of The Methodist Home.
• Complete training necessary to perform position consistent with program and agency staff development plans.

Job Qualifications:
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, psychology, child hood education, education counseling and psychology or other human service or behavioral science field. Master’s Degree is preferred.
• Must have a minimum of two years of casework experience in a child placing agency.
• Must have a minimum of two year’s experience in supervision of employees.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License with minimum of four-year driving history and the ability to meet and remain in good standing in accordance with Agency insurance guidelines.
• Personal characteristics and experiential background that will provide appropriate care for children, to win their respect, to guide them in their development, to manage a home for them effectively and to participate in the overall program designed for the residents.
• Strong people skills.
• Must have the ability to listen and understand the needs of residents.
• Knowledge of child care practices, developmental issues, and group processes and practices which are important to this position.
• Knowledge and demonstrated skills related to theory and practices for emotionally disturbed children.
• Working knowledge of family systems and family dynamics.
• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to meet and handle the public with tact and poise.
• Must be able to multi task in a fast-paced work environment.
• Ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
• Ability to understand and consistently implement policies and procedures of the Agency.
• Ability to interact and work cooperatively and effectively with other personnel and residents.

Essential Physical Requirements:

Duties are performed in a variety of environments ranging from highly stressful and potentially aggressive (physical interventions, escorts, etc.) to casual and leisurely.
• Duties are performed in a variety of environments in both indoor and outdoor settings that can include a wide range of conditions such as high/low temperatures and other inclement weather conditions.
• Ability to successfully complete the Crisis Aggression Limitation Management training program and conduct physical interventions as taught by the instructor. Examples (1) Escorting a child by the arm to de-escalate; (2) Support a child’s movement to a seated position to the floor or to a chair; (3) Support a child in a physical intervention to the floor, on your knees and for lengthy periods of time; (4) Ability to securely and safely maintain a child in a physical intervention for extended periods of time.
• Necessary stamina to maintain supervision of children who are attempting to run away. This may include fast walking for extended periods of time and/or the use physical interventions to escort/return child to campus
• Ability to lift/carry 15 pounds.
• Ability to assist/support/transport youth ranging in weight from 50 to 150 pounds.
• Overall necessary stamina and temperament to work with children and youth (ages 6-18) who are experiencing crisis and/or emotional and/or behavior disorders.
• Duties may include bending, stooping or kneeling for various durations of time.
• Duties may occasionally include overhead work, reaching, pulling and pushing items.
• Specific vision abilities include the ability to see for purposes of reading printed material as well as distance vision for purposes of maintaining appropriate supervision.
• Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
• Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
• Duties include frequent driving utilizing a 15-passenger van.
• Duties may include repetitive hand motions such as typing.
• Shifts may rotate between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, Sunday through Saturday.
• Provide required on-call duty responsibilities for campus as determined by rotation schedule (seven consecutive days every 10-12 weeks).
• Must be prepared to actively participate in a wide range of activities including but not limited to: basketball, swimming, fishing, volleyball, movies, staffings, team meetings, etc.
• Duties include repetitive hand motions such as typing.
• Duties include sitting at a computer for both long and short durations of time.
• Duties include some travel.
