Coordinator of Accounts Payable

Job Responsibilities:
Purpose: The Coordinator of Accounts payable provides bookkeeping for the Agency and serves as clerical support for the Vice President of Finance as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintains a systematic approach to the coordinating and logistical workload of the Finance Department.
• Provides clerical support for the Vice-President of Finance as needed.
• Responsible for the weekly input of invoices and printing of checks.
• Orders office supplies for the Finance Department.
• Maintains control and accounting of credit cards, gas cards, purchase orders, petty cash and travel expenses for staff and residents.
• Communicate financial policies and procedures to the campus.
• Assures the validity and authorization of all invoices and check requests.
• Reconciles credit card/gas card accounts, invoices, etc.
• Assists with the processing of clothing receipts for billing purposes.
• Serves as a backup to process payroll when needed.
• Serves as the point of contact for questions (both internal and external) relating to invoices, vendors, etc.
• Provides support to the Human Resources Department eight to ten hours weekly.
• Retains documents as designated by the Vice President of Finance and state and federal regulations.
• Maintains a safe and healthy work environment.
• Leadership: Role model and mentor for staff as indicated by:
o Takes initiative to implement good practice and meet licensing and accreditation standards.
o Interacts professionally and cooperatively with other parts of the agency (i.e. Human Resources, Finance, etc.)
• Completes assignments in a timely and accurate manner
• Upholds the mission and values of The Methodist Home.
• Is willing to take on additional responsibility in a positive manner.
• Complete training necessary to perform position consistent with program and agency staff development plans as indicated by:
        o Identifies training appropriate to this position

Job Qualifications:
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Minimum High School Diploma and 2 years’ experience in accounting/bookkeeping.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License with minimum of four-year driving history and the ability to meet and remain in good standing in accordance with Agency insurance guidelines.
• Proficiency in bookkeeping and word processing.
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Knowledge of basic math skills.
• Competent Level of Computer knowledge and skills to include, Word, Excel and financial software.
• Ability to operate basic office equipment such as copier, fax machine, calculator, etc.
• Knowledge and use of correct grammar and punctuation.
• Must possess the skill of reading comprehension — Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
• Must possess the skill of Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
• Must possess the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
• Must possess the ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
• Must be possess the ability to see details at close range.
• Must possess the ability to identify and understand the speech of another person.
• Must possess the ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
